Remember when television sets came in black and white and had valves? Well, maybe not but I just discovered that color TV was first available as early as 1953 although it didn’t become standard until the mid 1970s. How we have progressed from there.
According to TheFreeDictionary, the acronym LCD can have 32 different meanings. The one that applies to a HD LCD TV is Liquid Crystal Display. Basically rays of colored light are passed through thin layers of liquid crystals to form the picture. The big advantage over the normal CRT television is the it is very thin and lightweight so that it takes up less space in your home. It is only as recently as 2007 that there were more LCD television sets sold that CRT sets.
Almost all LCD TVs have HD (High Definition) quality. The main exceptions are the smaller screen sizes (20 ins or less) which cannot display the required resolution. Some people get confused between HD TV and digital TV. It is complicated but simply put all HDTV is digital but all digital TV is not HD. So make sure that you check that the television that you choose is HD.
One of the main advantages is that the screen looks just as good from a wide angle. So all the family don’t have to sit right in front of the television to be able to see what is happening.
